ECOLOGIST
We’re an independent, ecological consultancy situated in Hertford, Hertfordshire. Our client base is spread across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk, Surrey, Oxfordshire and London. Our projects range from small householder developments to projects for government organisations and large scale developers.
Our consultancy, which has operated since 1996, works specifically in the area of development and construction covering protected species. We are particular specialists in bat ecology though we do also cover all protected species.
We’re looking for someone who is seeking a dynamic workload and would enjoy working with us to support our existing projects and be highly committed in taking the business in to the future.
Flexible hours
Roles & responsibilities
Undertaking protected species surveys, principally bat, GCN and badger
Be the primary author for these survey reports
Production and submission of protected species licence applications
Work on construction sites as a hand’s on clerk of works in relation to protected species licences
Participate in all aspects of running projects
Phase 1 Habitat surveys
Invasive species surveys
Liaise with clients
You will ideally have
Natural England Class 18 Level 2 bat licence
Experience in the design and implementation of mitigation works
Be a clear, inclusive communicator and report writer
Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology & Environmental Management (CIEEM)
Desirable
Holding other Natural England personal licences
Be technically orientated and competent with a desire to explore new technologies, improve and push boundaries
Have a good understanding of sonogram analysis, CAD and GIS
Other Requirements
A full UK driving licence and have access to your own car.
