There are important features to Licence Application which need to be understood. The most important of these is correct timing within the overall management structure of the proposed development. It is imperative that the issues of protected species are take onboard at the inception of the project, failure to do this can add significant delays to the proposed timetable of the project.
The general path of licence application is:
Survey (frequently only possible for part of the year depending on species)
An appropriate mitigation and compensation scheme designed
Planning Permission granted (if required)
Applying for the Licence (can take 40 + working days)
Acting on the Mitigation recommendations of the Licence (can have annual timing issues depending on species).
